Description

Is used for occasional gaming on the weekends. Lately, I have only been playing siege. I do a lot of HW on it and I browse the internet. This rig started off with an R3 2200g with a cheap DIYPC case and it evolved into this throughout the year and a half that I entered the PC master race. I don’t really want to go back to Xbox. However, their new consoles look pretty interesting at the moment.

Part Reviews

CPU

Got it for a steal a while back. 170 bucks for this bad boy in late 2019. 8 cores, 16 threads, it is a beast. However, it eats power and is hot, so sometimes I like to cap the frequency at 3.6 ghz and the voltage at 1.1 to get better temps for longer gaming sessions.

CPU Cooler

Really good bang for the buck cooling performance. The fan that came with it could be a bit better, but for 35 dollars, this is a steal.

Motherboard

An amazing product from MSI, nothing bad to say here.

Memory

Good RAM. 3200 Mghz is a decent enough speed for Ryzen.

Storage

Pretty quick speeds for 20 dollars. Holds my programs. That I want to load quickly.

Storage

Not the fastest storage out there, but for an HDD, it is not that slow, and has lots of storage. Is used for my games.

Video Card

Good price to performance. Perfect for 1080p gaming. However, after about a year of use, the fans got kind of loud when playing a demanding game. Also, there is a bit of coil whine, and it gets toasty under load. Anyways, I like this GPU quite a bit.

Power Supply

SeaSonic makes good stuff. Nothing to complain here, and is able to hold my power hungry 2700x, and 580.

Case Fan

Louder than my NF-F12s, but fits the scheme of my build better.

Case Fan

About like my NF-F12s but gray, cheaper, and a tad bit louder.

Monitor

Coming from 60htz, 165 htz feels amazing. It is butter smooth, and the bezels are thin. Great for playing siege.

Keyboard

Loud and Clicky, but is great for typing.

Mouse

Good little mouse for only 30 bucks. I am a fingertip player, so this suits me well. About a year and a half of use, the left click got a bit messed up, but I was able to fix it up clicking furiously on it for a minute straight and then the problem went away. Weird, I know.

Headphones

Great sound quality. Better than any gaming headphones. However, since they are open back, I can hear outside noises well.

Custom

Good mousepad for about 15 bucks.

Custom

Keeps my mouse chord from constantly snagging on my mousepad and back of the desk.

Custom

Keeps my monitor at a comfortable height.

Custom

For 90 bucks, this case has a fan controller, rgb strip, tempered glass, and is mostly made of steel. It looks really good with my hardware, and my black and red theme. Only caveat though is that the front panel is kind of restricting of airflow. Oh, I forgot to mention that it has good dust filtration.

Custom

Fits my theme and holds my headphones. Is magnetically attached to the front of my Phanteks p400s.

Custom

Unfortunately, I couldn’t get the Bluetooth to work, even after installing and reinstalling drivers. However, it provides for good wifi, so I don’t have to run an Ethernet cable across my room.

How is the color on the monitor? I’m looking for a high hz monitor and I found this one which looks great for a good price, but am concerned how the colors are. Thank you!

I am not the most trustworthy when it comes to monitor colors because I have only ever used TN panels, but for a TN panel, I think the colors are alright, but certainly nothing special.

Yea I was thinking of getting a TN panel, but then heard about the colors being bad and started hesitating. But I’ll see if I get the monitor you have or get a different TN panel. Thanks for replying!
